Frequently Asked Questions

• How is Studio K different from other studios?
Studio K is a low pressure studio. This means we want your dancer to have a positive experience in dance without the pressure of competitions or mandatory multiple classes a week. There are many great studios in our area but ours is one of the few that keeps costs low for families while giving a GREAT technical based dance experience. For more information about what sets us apart click here.

• When does the dance year begin and end at Studio K?
We have a 9 month season from September to May (see our calendar). Registration begins in late February for the following season. (We often have options for dancers to start classes in January (mid-season).  Email Keenan for details.) We also offer Summer Dance camps & classes between June and August.

• How do I register?
Contact Keenan – click here.

• What should my dancer wear to class?
Take a look at our dress code. Let me know if you have further questions.

• Where can I purchase shoes and dance apparel?
(First, review our dress code so you know what to look for when you are shopping.)
Many dance parents find great apparel at local box stores (i.e. Shopko, Target, Kmart, Walmart). Some families have good luck ordering from DiscountDance.com. They often have good sales. There are also a couple dance stores in our area:
1- Dance Works (3228 N University Ave, Provo, 801-375-4622) Check their sale racks for great stuff!
2- Dance Gear (585 N 1200 W, Orem, 801-224-3285)
3- There are some options for dance wear at Amazon, Target and Walmart though I am not sure of their quality or durability.
*Let me know if you have found any other places!

 What is the “add/drop deadline”?
There comes a point in our dance season that I need to prepare and order recital costumes. Our add/drop deadline is the last day to add or drop dance classes for that season. After this day, I make recital preparations according to the current classes.

• How/Where do I pay my tuition?
Tuition is due on or before the 5th of every month and is late if received after the 5th. Starting on the 6th of every month, please add a $20 late fee to amount due. Do not give your tuition payments to the dance teachers! If you are unsure of your exact monthly tuition amount, please let me know. Tuition can be turned in 3 ways:
1) The preferred form of payment is through Venmo (@studiok).
2) There is a locked tuition box on the wall near the shoe cubby at the studio. I (Keenan) am the only person with a key and will pick up deposits twice a week. Do NOT deposit loose cash in this box - it is too hard to track. Put cash in a sealed envelope with your dancers name and dollar amount clearly written on the envelope.
3) You are also welcome to mail your payment to me. Contact me for the address.
4) The other way to pay is through your bill pay service. Please let me know if you'd like to set this up so I can plan for this.

• Is the same tuition amount due every month?
I often get questions about tuition payments on months with more or less than 4 lessons that month. In simple terms - the same tuition payment is due each month. That payment covers 4 dance lessons, even if that month has more or less than 4 lessons. At the end of the 9 month season the amounts of lessons as compared to the tuition paid has evened out. More tuition info here.

• Does my costume fee include all the items my dancer will need for recital?
Most of the time the things not included in the costume fee are shoes, dance pants (for older dancers) and undershirts (if needed). Detailed information will be published on the blog each January. Ask Keenan for more details.

• I’d like to hold a class/special event in your studio space – can I rent the space?
The studio space is available for rent for weekly, monthly or one-time events. If you or anyone you know needs a wide open space for a class or party, please let me know!
