Studio K Policies

Studio/Student Agreement

By sending your student to dance class at Studio K you are agreeing to the following policies:

~Waiver
**Before attending any classes each student/parent must fill out and sign the Studio K Liability Waiver. Students cannot participate in activities at Studio K without signing and submitting/turning in this documentation.

~Dance Season
**Our dance "season" is 9 months (~Sept to May, see full studio calendar here) and your commitment is to attend dance class for the whole season.
**We don't anticipate having to move all classes online (through zoom) but if we are forced to do so to support community health, it is expected that students will remained enrolled in classes.

~Tuition & Fees
**Your tuition payment holds your dancers' place in his/her class. There are no refunds or discounts for absences.
**Tuition payments are due in full on or before the 5th of each month. They need to be turned in to the tuition box at the studio or postmarked by this date (contact Keenan for the address). Any tuition payment received after the 5th will incur the $20 late fee (fee will be added to account even if it isn't paid with the current payment). Please note - tuition payments are non-refundable.
**Returned checks and all fees associated are the responsibility of the dancers family. In addition, there will be a $10 Studio K fee for all returned checks. You will receive an email detailing all fees and how to repay them.

~Drop off
**Dancers are expected to arrive at class on time and ready to dance! Please see our conduct guidelines here (bottom of page).

~Safety & Pick-Up Guidelines
**Our dancer's safety is a high priority! The set-up of our studio space and class schedule is such that when a class is dismissed, the teacher's attention will shift to her next class. She will, of course, keep an eye on the dancers waiting to leave but will not be able to give them her full attention.
**Therefore, we ask that all dancers stay in the studio until they see their family car or are met by their family member at the door.
**Please be prompt in pickup up your dancers at the end of their class time.
**Please do not allow or ask your dancers to run through parked cars or into the main parking lot area. At certain times of day it gets quite busy and drivers are not always looking for little ones.
**Please talk with your dancers about your family's rules regarding what to do and where to go after class to keep them safe.

~Health
**We are serious about the health and well begin of our dancers and teachers ❤️.
**Please do not send sick dancers to class. If your dancer or anyone they have been around shows symptoms of sickness in the last 48 hours, do not send your dancer to class.
**Please only send dancers into the studio. No parents/siblings/etc inside the door. This will help keep extra germs out and make our sanitizing a little simpler.
**We will keep the studio clean. We ask that dancers use hand sanitizer or wash their hands as needed.
**There are many cases of minor sicknesses (i.e. colds) that dancers can attend class wearing a mask. Contact Keenan for details.

~Dress Code
**We do not have a strict dress code at Studio K but it is expected that dancers will abide by our dress standards (click here).

~Closed Rehearsal Policy
**At Studio K, we encourage our dancers to come to class independently for the best training, focus and outcomes. It is also for the physical safety and emotional well-being of our students. We realize some dancers may be nervous on their first day of class and we understand if a parent needs to stay for 1-2 minutes. We have found that dancers settle in quickly once they start participating and they do wonderfully! It may not make your child nervous, but it could make other children nervous for us to have guests in the studio. In summary, class observation by any guests is prohibited without direct permission from Keenan. Let us know if we can help your dancer.
**Also, we LOVE our dance parents and want you to be able to see your dancers progress. To strike a balance, we have "stay days". Stay days are designated days during the dance season where one parent/guardian is invited to "stay" during class. The teacher will run class as she/he normally does and parents will get to see the exciting things their dancers are learning. It is expected that parents will not stay for their dancer's class other than the scheduled stay days to allow the teacher and students to work without interruption.

~Add/Drop Policy
**We don't want any dancers to leave Studio K and always welcome new dancers to our classes! Please understand, if you are enrolled or are enrolling at Studio K past January 10th, 2025 your dancer's costume fee plus any additional fees are your responsibility no matter the circumstances.
**If, for any reason, you need to pull your dancer from taking class you must contact Keenan (the director) by phone or email prior to not attending class. We require 2 weeks notice of leaving.  If contact is not made, tuition will be due for the current month. Please note - monthly payments are non-refundable. There may be other fees due upon departure (see Add/Drop explanation below).

~2024-2025 Add/Drop Deadline
January 10, 2025 is the deadline to add or drop dance classes at Studio K. Starting January 10, 2025 I will be ordering costumes and making plans for our Spring Dance Recital. Adding or dropping past this deadline will result in additional fees including (but not exclusive to) full or partial costume fees, return or cancel costume fees, shipping charges, recital fee and change fees. Most of these fees are imposed by the costume companies and all will be assumed by the dancer adding or dropping.
